    Hi all,

I’m currently a a trainee RE teacher, and have just finished a piece of work on biblical creation with my year 9 classes.

They are incredibly engaged with the subject and have asked twice now to have a debate on creation.

I’m not sure I would like them to debate creationism vs. science (as I’m sure they would love!), as it doesn’t really require them to engage with diverse views, and I think I’ll end up with 32 children all of whom want to argue against creation.

I was thinking of picking six or so creation theories, heavily biased towards various Christian theories (Genesis, gap creationism, new earth theory etc) and splitting the group into groups of say 5-6, giving them time to study the theory and then debate.

But, I’ve never planned a debate before and I can’t get my head around the logistics. Any ideas?
