The video appears to be based on a Peruvian myth. A deaf boy is treated cruelly and runs away from home. He finds an old man being tormented and shouts out his anger. The evildoers withdraw. Next he finds a person who has been injured by the roadside. Again, his shouting puts off the people who had injured him and were trying to kill him. He learns that all unkindness comes from a mountain where a demon whispers evil. Being deaf only he can go there to confront the demon and when he shouts he drowns out the evil whispers. I used this successfully with year 8 and 9 pupils. We used the the music video as a stimulus to generate a debate about the nature of evil with special reference to the Fall and the election of Hitler, and also about reading too much into (moving image) texts.
