Pilgrimage into Adult Life

Pilgrimage into Adult Life
Film première and day conference

Date: Monday 3rd June 2019
Time: 10am to 4pm
Cost: £50

Hosted by the Centre for Christian Education, Liverpool Hope University

How are young people in our society initiated into adult life? The Churches struggle to engage with those on the cusp of adulthood. This one day conference launches the film of a two-year project involving one Liverpool school and five Cathedrals which piloted a framework of support for 16-18 year olds as they prepare for leaving school. At the heart of the project is inter-generational sharing between the young people or ‘pilgrims’ and adult mentors or ‘pilgrim companions’. The project culminated in an actual pilgrimage walk from Bangor Cathedral to Bardsey Island. The conference will provide space to reflect on this project from a number of different angles and to explore possible ways of taking this framework forward.
