The Religious Education Council of England and Wales (REC)’s 2013 National Curriculum Framework for RE (NCFRE) describes the attainment target for RE in the same terms as for national curriculum subjects, namely, ‘By the end of each key stage, students are expected to know, apply and understand the matters, skills and processes specified in the relevant programme of study.’
Most agreed syllabuses make reference to six areas of enquiry. These areas of enquiry help to provide a focus for teaching, learning and assessment in RE and have been used as the basis for many sections in RE:ONLINE.
