Join: NATRE A Level online group
Have you found the new A level RS group that NATRE have started? At the last online meeting 250 A level teachers had connected. The next date has not been set but do email Karen Steele, Steele.k@sggs.org.uk, if you are interested.
Read: Thomas Jay Ord
Thomas is a fascinating Theologian I came across at Greenbelt Christian Arts Festival. Until recently a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene, read about his church trial and subsequent expulsion from membership. He writes really interesting books on theology and philosophy which teachers might be interested in. You can download a free ebook sampler of his writings. For those of you teaching environmental ethics as part of your specification you may find his blog God and Climate Change interesting as a text for students to read.
Share: A level RS helps prepare pupils for the changing world around them
This excellent, passionate and classroom grounded article by Greg Parekh in FE News, Education leaders must meet the demand for high quality Religious Education
argues that A level RS should be taught more widely. As we consider our responses to the Curriculum and Assessment review: Call for evidence, who can you share this article with in your school, MAT, SACRE or locality?
Research: Developing opportunities for diversity and progression in Religious Studies at A Level
Reading the piece by Greg about the importance of students studying A level RS reminded me of the research by Hayley Ellen which you may have missed this time last year. Hayley explores connections with higher education and explores EDI within RS.
