Stories Focus Week: The Power of Story

2nd – 8th March 2026

In partnership with CTVC

Stories are at the heart of how people make sense of religion and worldviews. This Focus Week brings together practical resources, research and classroom ideas to help you use storytelling with purpose.

Explore how different kinds of stories, sacred, personal and contemporary, can deepen understanding, spark discussion and open up new perspectives for pupils.

In Conversation event

On 5 March 2026, we hosted a free online In Conversation exploring the power of story in RE.

In this discussion, Fiona Moss is joined by Mary Myatt, Shazia Ur-Rehman, Ruth Peacock and Bob Ayres to explore how storytelling can deepen understanding, bring authentic voices into the classroom and support meaningful enquiry.

Booklists and Reflections

Explore a curated booklist and reflection from Dr Linda Whitworth, highlighting how stories can support discussion around empathy, belonging and difference in the classroom.

You can also read Fiona Moss’s reflection on The Power of Story in RE: Windows, Mirrors and Glass Sliding Doors, exploring how stories help pupils see themselves and others more clearly.

The Power of Story: Harry Clark Goes to Rome

Our Education and Programme Manager, Fiona Moss, sat down for a chat with Harry Clark about his Catholic faith, Traitors and his TV programme Harry Clark Goes to Rome. Clips from this could be useful with secondary pupils. The programme Harry Clark Goes to Rome can be found on BBC Iplayer.

In this interview, Harry Clark reflects on faith, identity, storytelling and the power of lived experience through his journey from The Traitors to Pilgrimage and Harry Clark Goes to Rome. This conversation explores how personal stories can open up meaningful discussion about belief, worldview, prayer, doubt, belonging and what shapes who we are. Harry speaks candidly about his Catholic faith, the challenges that tested it, and how prayer, pilgrimage and questioning helped deepen his understanding of himself and God.
