Religious Education Council Suite of Resources
This suite of resources is the outcome of a three-year project on behalf of the RE Council. Primarily aimed at curriculum writers, it consists of a handbook, including a toolkit, three exemplar frameworks, and their accompanying resources.
Whose worldviews?
Whose worldviews is a free resource for you to use with your pupils created by Stephen Pett from RE Today. It is best suited for use with secondary pupils but could be used by pupils age 9-11 in the primary classroom. School pupils (and anyone else!) can fill in their responses to questions about their idea of God, and the impact their worldviews have in their lives, and have their responses turned instantly into a graphic representation – a snowflake or a spidergram.
Lincoln Diocesan Board of Education
Lincoln Diocesan Board of Education have produced a series of case studies that take a religion and worldviews approach to support the curriculum for 11-14 year olds. Below is a sample resource for Christian Worldviews on 16th Street Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama.
Religion and Worldviews KS3 Case Studies
Islam as a worldview
Four learning sessions (suitable for 7-14 year olds) on Muhammad Ali, one of the world’s all-time greatest boxers. Ali was also a conscientious objector, antiracist activist and devoted Muslim. All these aspects of his life are intertwined, as our multiple worldviews are. As well as contribution to teaching resources for Black History Month, these lessons are also an example of what worldviews can look like in the classroom.
Nottingham University training materials
The Introducing Religion and Worldviews packs have been designed to be delivered in schools by teachers, for teachers. The resources introduce trainers and their colleagues to a ‘Religion and Worldviews’ approach, focusing on what that might look like in the religious education classroom at primary and secondary levels. These packs have been created by Dr Celine Benoit, Dr Tim Hutchings and Dr Rachel Shillitoe and a small group of teachers.
