REQM – Leading and Curriculum Strands
The RE Quality Mark (REQM), our focus this month, consists of four strands: teaching, learning, curriculum and leading. Within each strand are three levels of award: Bronze, Silver and Gold. This month we present a helpful template to focus your attention on the ‘leading’ strand, as well as two Powerpoints to guide your thinking regarding the ‘leading’ and ‘curriculum’ strands.
Firstly, the ‘curriculum’ strand. Curriculum is foundational to any subject, it is where pupils of all ages and in all contexts encounter the knowledge and ways of thinking that make each subject distinct. Below the document ‘Curriculum strand guidance’ offers helpful tips when deciding what level of award you should apply for.
Secondly, the ‘leading’ strand. You will find a similar document to guide you in considering the level of award you currently occupy in this strand. Additionally you will find a ‘Leading strand template’, a series of questions and points to direct you in auditing your context against the Gold award. Aim high!
We hope you will find this useful, and will offer you encouragement in considering an REQM for your school.
